Caribbean Stud: General Tips
Players who frequent casinos will see the action going on at the poker tables and think, “Man, I really want to get in on the action there, playing poker with the big boys…but it’s just too intimidating for me. I can’t do it.” The good news is, there’s a table game (think blackjack) that lets you experience the thrill of playing poker without the fear of being bluffed, or losing a massive pot when you made a small initial investment; Caribbean Stud (Or Casino Poker) allows you to play poker without playing the players.
To play, simply find a table in your casino, have a seat, and place an ante on the layout of the table before the dealer has announced “No more bets!” to ensure you get a hand. Once dealt, you look at the five card hand you were dealt and decide whether or not you think your hand will beat the dealers, who will show a single card in his hand without looking. Once you’ve decided whether you’re in or out, you’ll either fold, and forfeit your ante, or play, by placing twice the ante amount in the bet box. Once all bets have been finalized, the dealer will turn his hand over, and if it qualifies (A-K high or better) and your hand is best, you win even money on the ante and are paid according to the quality of your hand on the bet wager. If the dealer does not have AK high or better, the bet wager is considered a push, and you’re paid even money on the ante wager. This means that if you’re dealt a royal flush and the dealer has AQ high, you only get 1-1 on your ante and nothing else; player beware!
That’s just the basics on Caribbean Stud; there’s much more to learn about the game!
